Iroh Update: Confidence, Growth, and Plenty of Personality at 6 Months Old

One of our favorite parts of the Joyfully Giving program is sharing updates on Iroh, the future service dog we're proud to sponsor through Northwest Battle Buddies. Each month brings new milestones, and this latest update shows just how much he's growing, both physically and emotionally.

At 6 months old, Iroh now weighs an impressive 67 pounds and continues to make excellent progress in his training. His foster family reports that he is doing especially well with crate training and has become comfortable spending time in his crate even when the door remains open. This growing independence and comfort are important building blocks as he continues preparing for a future career supporting a veteran.

One of the most encouraging developments is Iroh's confidence around loud and unexpected noises. Recent construction work taking place inside the home has provided plenty of opportunities to observe his reactions. Rather than showing fear or anxiety, Iroh has remained curious, calm, and interested in what is happening around him. Those traits are valuable indicators as he continues developing the temperament needed for service work.

Of course, Iroh's playful side is still very much intact.

According to his foster, his newest favorite thing is the garden hose. He also continues to claim his favorite napping spot on the fireplace mantle, despite the fact that he is quickly becoming too large for it. In true Iroh fashion, he occasionally falls off while sleeping but keeps returning to the same spot anyway.

These little moments remind us that while Iroh is training for an important future role, he's also still a young dog enjoying every stage of puppyhood.

Most importantly, Iroh continues to grow into a sweet, confident, and good-natured pup with plenty of personality. Every month brings new skills, greater confidence, and more signs that he is developing into the exceptional service dog he is meant to become.

Through our Joyfully Giving program, we are honored to support Northwest Battle Buddies and the life-changing work they do pairing veterans with highly trained PTSD service dogs. Following Iroh's journey has been a privilege, and we are excited to continue sharing his progress with our community.

Stay tuned for next month's update as Iroh continues his journey toward becoming a future service dog and making a meaningful difference in the life of a veteran.
